Cassie Absolute offers a rich and sweet aroma with warm, green, honey-floral notes. It features soft, powdery undertones with a hint of cinnamic-balsamic scent. As it dries down, you’ll notice a violet-like note due to the presence of a ketone, p-bromophenlyhydrazone, which is significant for its aroma, though current references for this ketone are lacking. Additionally, the presence of α- and ß-ionones in Cassie Absolute contributes to its violet-like aroma.
Extracted from the blossoms of the Acacia farnesiana tree, Cassie Absolute comes from a small, thorny tree that thrives in warm temperate and semi-tropical regions, including France, Egypt, the West Indies, India, and South America.
In modern perfumery, Cassie Absolute is used to add intensity, with notable examples like Une Fleur de Cassie by Dominique Ropion for Frédéric Malle. It is chemically complex and used in creating Violet, Rose, and Jasmine accords. It should not be confused with Cassia (Cinnamomum cassia) or Cassis, which refer to different aromatic materials with distinct properties.
Dilution Note: When diluted with 190 proof alcohol, Cassie Absolute may become cloudy. This cloudiness will clear up within a day or two, leaving a small amount of sediment at the bottom. The clear portion can be decanted for filtering if needed.
